Impala Mk.II "1037" flown by Lt. Neil Thomas, shot down by 23mm AAA while on CAS mission for op Smokeshell. Pilot ejected safely and was recovered by an Alouette helicopter. The aircraft was also recovered by a Super Frelon helicopter, and subsequently repaired by Atlas.

The magestic scenery and awesome rocky formations, coupled with a cold Autumn front moving in, inspired me to paint this work. Catastrophic Plate Techtonics movements of bygone eras, pushed the earth upwards to form magnificent peaks and valleys. The towns of Worcester, Ceres, Montagu and Barrydale boast spectacular landscapes surpast by no others.

Pilots found it to be agile and dependable, it was a fine air-combat plane capable of great speed and superior high-altitude performance.Under the intense pressure from the Ministry of Aircraft due to the superiority of the superb German Focke-Wulf 190A , Supermarine produced the Spitfire Mk IX. The new MkIX proved vastly superior. It lasted a long time, 5665 being built, the second highest number of any Spitfire Mark. The Camel was manufactured by the Sopwith Aviation Company and had its first flight on 22 December 1916. The Sopwith Camel was a formidable British First World War single-seat biplane fighter introduced on the Western Front in 1917. It had a combination of a short-coupled fuselage, heavy, powerful rotary engine and concentrated fire from twin synchronized machine guns. Description: Fairey Swordfish Biplanes based on the aircraft carrier, HMS Victorious, torpedo attack the German Battleship Bismarck during WW2 and disable its rudders. The Bismarck was then attacked by HMS Dorsetshire with torpedoes and other battleships and sank.

REMNANT OF RED LOCATION

Title: Remnant of Red Location.
Description: During early 1800's - Settler times of South Africa, the British Military built barracks for the troops on the outskirts of Port Elizabeth. The buildings consisted of rows of corrugated iron semi-detached buildings painted with red oxide to avoid weathering. When Apartheid raised its ugly head, the Afrikaans dominated National Party segregated Black people into the area naming it Red Location after the red oxide. Over the years the location became a settlement of crowded shacks which disintergrated. This remnant of Red Location is one of only two structures still remaining which the Red Location Museum has been empowered to retain. Unfortunately, the people in the area are so destitute that they have started dismantling it to build more shacks.

Fairview used to be a coloured community which were ruthlessly relocated to the outskirts of Port Elizabeth during the Apartheid years. The community has successfully claimed the land back to large portions of the area and will soon be re-establishing themselves back.

Description: Cape Town Water Front fishing boat fleet. Fishing trawlers docked in the harbour during the off-season. The crews are laid off and a handfull of sailors maintain and paint the boats and upgrade any old or damaged equipment. The colours of the hulls contrast with the background tones of the historic buildings that are being preserved and also reflect their bright blue and whites in the deep indigo water. The magnificent, world famous and iconic land mark, Table Mountain, towers over Cape Town and the water front - The whole composite is the must-see destination which millions of visitors flock to each year.
