Description: DOUGLAS DC-3 CARGO. The old bird waits patiently for someone to put it to work again. It will go on waiting and spring to life when called upon in its quest to please and perform, no matter what the conditions and task. This superlative transport aircraft, produced in greater numbers than any other in its category, with almost 11,000 manufactured by the time production ended in 1945, was the most dependable aircraft of its time - Today many are still operational worldwide. During WW2 the USA had the DC-3 converted to a military transport plane and named it the C-47.

Description: Airspeed Oxford WW2 Trainer, currently a restoration project in the SAAF Port Elizabeth Museum. No. G-AITF depicted flying over the Port elizabeth 42nd air School base during the 1940's.

The Oxford Mk I was a general-purpose, bombing and gunnery trainer, usually fitted with a dorsal gun turret.
The Oxford, built to Specification T.23/36, was based on Airspeed's commercial 8-seater craft, the Airspeed AS.6 Envoy. Seven of these had been modified for the South African Air Force as the "Convertible Envoy", which could be equipped at short notice with a single machine-gun in a hand-operated Armstrong Whitworth dorsal turret and bomb racks.
